Hello and Welcome

My wife and I thought this would be a good way to share the sights, sounds and thoughts of my deployment to Afghanistan during 2012.

My plan is to update this quite frequently, but who knows what will be possible over there. I will do my best to update you all as often as possible.

It goes without saying that I will be missing each of you all very badly. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all and I will be praying for a quick and safe return.

  2. OK now I have the hang of it!

What I wrote (and lost) was that you are the great American I always wanted you to be. While you will of course be in our prayers also know that we will have your back. You and God are doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

PS Any news re: Deployment Date?

  3. Hi handsome soldier!!!
I'm so glad you're doing this...for you're friends and family to follow your journey while you're protecting our freedom and support you along the way. This next year has been a part of God's perfect plan for you and for us before we ever knew it would come...I look forward to seeing where this next year takes us, together...b/c even a part, we'll be together. I love you Geoff.
    LOVE!

  5. A posting by your Mom...
I will always remember the little boy dressed in full combat camaflage clothing asking his Mom to put the camaflage grease paint on his face just perfectly as he and his best friend Ryan Mahoney headed off to the woods hiding behind your camaflage hunting screen for hours upon hours ready loaded w/the supply of pinecones ready to attck whatever may be lurking behind our house in Waterford Green some 20+years ago.
As you know, I always knew you were meant to be that exceptional military officer and there was no question in my mind you would be taking care of business....keeping us safe and keeping our freedom which we take for granted each day. I just always pictured you doing that at 30,000 ft above the ground!
Now the song "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins has even more meaning for your mom. There will be no more pinecones, no more paint balls....everything will be for real.
I wont be there to put the camaflage grease paint on your face but, I will be there in spirit and with pride that you are my son....the
    soldier.
    Love,MOM
